PSA’s Citroën auto group, one of Europe’s largest auto producers, introduced the AutoPC in early 2000. The first of its kind in the industry, the AutoPC was created from a partnership among Zandiant, Clarion, Microsoft and Citroën. The resulting technological accomplishment launched a new industry of mobile communications, information and entertainment products.

As one of the world’s most refined automotive electronics projects, the Zandiant-engineered AutoPC fits comfortably into Citroën’s radio housing and has a breadth of features. Sophisticated but easy to use, the technology supplies the driver with navigation, traffic and personal e-mail information through voice-recognition commands. The use of a natural voice interface allows the driver to operate his vehicle in a safe but informed manner. In addition, the AutoPC supplies an electronic road map using GPS technology, as well as hands-free telephone and access to the Short Message Service (SMS). The AutoPC also doubles as a car stereo with a graphic equalizer and CD player. Additional features include vehicle diagnostic messaging, an address book with PDA infrared interface and a voice memo recorder.

The Citroën AutoPC is available as a factory option from Citroën dealers in France and Germany.
